Best Practices

Clamp on the jacket, not the wires

Strain relief should grip the cable jacket (the outer covering), not individual wires. This distributes force across the entire cable.

Allow service loop

Leave some slack between the strain relief and the termination point. This absorbs movement and allows for retermination if needed.

Match cable OD to grommet size

An undersized grommet damages the cable; an oversized one provides no grip. Use the correct bushing/grommet for your cable diameter.
